Brigades receive equipment grants - 2017

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP has congratulated a number of local emergency service organisations who have received a funding boost under the 2017-18 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program.

“Volunteers do a huge amount of fundraising in order to apply for $2 for $1 matching funding from the Victorian Government and any extra support they receive goes a long way,” Ms Kealy said.

Successful local CFA brigades are Areegra, Balmoral, Casterton, Coleraine, Crymelon, Digby, Dimboola, Horsham, Lake Bolac, Lawloit, Merino, Nareen, Noradjuha, North Hamilton, Patyah, Wonwondah and Woorndoo.

Grants were also received by VicSES units in Balmoral, Dunkeld, Dunmunkle, Hamilton and Warracknabeal.

“Our emergency service volunteers are indispensable to the safety of our local communities”, Ms Kealy said.

“While these grants are good news for these local organisations, it doesn’t make up for the disrespect Daniel Andrews has shown our volunteers over the past three years.

"The Nationals will always stand up for CFA volunteers and we will continue to protect the volunteers who protect us.

“We need to see a change of culture in our fire services, which is why the Liberal Nationals have announced a Royal Commission if elected to Government,” she said.
