Get behind the Edenhope Fishing Competition

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy is encouraging anglers and their families from right across Victoria to get behind the third annual Edenhope Fishing Competition on the Melbourne Cup weekend.

Ms Kealy said major events like the Edenhope Fishing Competition were critical to the local area, attracting visitors from far afield and providing major economic benefits to local businesses and the broader community.

The local angling club initiated the competition to celebrate the return of water to the towns Lake Wallace following years of drought.

“The organising committee, which comprises mostly young mothers from around the area, has done a magnificent job in sourcing competition prizes that every angler would want to hook,” Ms Kealy said.

“First prize in the adult section is $5,000 cash, with the winner of the junior section taking home a brand new Kayak.

“There is free camping available around Lake Wallace and food and entertainment will be available all weekend.

“I encourage everyone to come along to Edenhope on 2nd and 3rd November for a fantastic weekend for the whole family.”
