Job losses still down in North West Victoria

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP says the latest data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows the total number of people employed in North West Victoria remains significantly lower under Daniel Andrews Labor Government.

While the Daniel Andrews Labor Government is trying to quote North West Victoria as one of the strongest performing regions over the last quarter, the total number of people employed remains significantly down since they came into Government.

Under Daniel Andrews, the total number of people in employment across North West Victoria has reduced by 1,636 people since December 2014.

“Labors ongoing failure to invest in our roads, schools and other government projects means there are fewer jobs in the region,” Ms Kealy said.

“It is clear that Daniel Andrews has no jobs planned for Western Victoria and all his energy is spent looking after Melbourne at the expense of regional areas.

“Daniel Andrews must look beyond Melbourne and make every effort to kick-start new employment opportunities to create jobs for the region.

“Country people living in the Lowan electorate are sick of being treated like second-class citizens by Daniel Andrews’ Labor Government.

“It's time for Daniel Andrews’ city-centric Labor Government to go so that Western Victoria can start to move forward and we can build a better future for our region,” she said.
