Kealy calls for consultation on new bus stop locations

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy has been contacted by a number of local residents concerned at a lack of consultation by Public Transport Victoria on proposed new bus stop locations in Horsham.

“While the expansion of bus services in Horsham is great, PTV need to make sure they genuinely consult with and listen to feedback provided by local residents on the new bus stop locations,” Ms Kealy said.

“Many residents have raised concern that the proposed stops are in dangerous locations, will impact on access to property or the ability to use their property to its full advantage.

“They have provided this feedback to PTV who have changed the location in a couple of cases but again with no further consultation, creating a whole new set of issues for local residents.

“I have written to the Minister for Public Transport requesting that PTV immediately undertake a full and comprehensive consultation process with impacted residents to ensure their concerns are addressed.

“Locals always know best and it’s essential that local people are heard when these types of important decisions are being made.”

The PTV is proposing to introduce expanded bus services in Horsham from January 2020.
