Labor again fails western Victorian motorists - Letter to the Editor

What an incredible disappointment that Labor's $1.8 billion roads funding announcement for 'out west' is actually for roads between Werribee and Footscray.

It is infuriating and insulting that Labor continues to ignore the appalling road conditions in ‘true’ western Victoria, putting local lives at risk and costing motorists a huge amount in vehicle repairs.

Western Victoria is far more in need to receive $1.8 billion in roads funding. Road quality conditions between Werribee and Footscray are far superior to our ‘death trap’ roads.

This is yet another example of a city centric Labor Government that continually neglects the 400 km beyond Werribee to the South Australian border.

The last thing we want is a school bus over turning or a head on collision with a truck in order to secure desperately needed road maintenance funding to make our roads safe again.

For the sake and safety of our local people, Labor must immediately return the hundreds of millions of dollars they have taken from the country roads budget and allocate desperately needed funds to ‘true’ western Victorian roads.
