Local brigades receive equipment grants 2017

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP has congratulated a number of local emergency service organisations who have received a funding boost under the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP).

“Volunteers do a huge amount of fundraising in order to apply for matching funding from the Victorian Government and any extra support they receive goes a long way,” Ms Kealy said.

Successful local CFA brigades are Clear Lake, Dadswells Bridge, Dergholm, Dimboola, Grass Flat, Horsham, Kellalac, Lawloit, Moyston, Murtoa, Toolondo and Yaapeet.

Grants were also received by the Grampians Regional Team and Mallee Regional Team of St Johns Ambulance and VicSES units in Horsham, Nhill, Dunmunkle, Dimboola and Warracknabeal.

“Our emergency service volunteers are indispensable to the safety of our local communities”, Ms Kealy said.

“While these grants are good news for these local organisations, the Premier needs to understand that the disdain he has shown recently for our CFA volunteers can’t be reversed by a few equipment grants.

"The Nationals will always stand up for CFA volunteers and we must all now stand together to protect the volunteers who protect us,” she said.
