Local clubs receive VicHealth grants

Sports and active recreation clubs throughout the Lowan electorate will receive funding as part of the VicHealth’s Active Club Grants program.

“Six local sporting clubs across the Lowan electorate have shared in almost $14,000 worth of funding under the VicHealth Active Club grant scheme,” Ms Kealy said.

Funding of up to $3,000 will be received by the following clubs:

  • Goroke Golf Club - $1,510.00
  • Hamilton Centre Riding for the Disabled - $1,194.00
  • Kaniva Golf Club - $2,150.00
  • Warracknabeal Golf Club - $2,908.00
  • Wimmera Hockey Association - $3,000.00
  • Horsham Saints Cricket Club - $3,000.00

“I congratulate our local clubs on their successful funding applications which will help to provide equipment and encourage participation in physical activity,” Ms Kealy said.

“Regular physical activity not only protects against many illnesses, it also makes us mentally healthy, alert and resilient against the stresses of modern life.

“Now is a timely reminder to stay active as we head into the Christmas and New Year period when we usually have a chance to relax and perhaps eat more than we usually do.

“Sporting clubs provide a great service to our local communities and I am delighted to see them receiving some much needed funding,” she said.
