Parliament House Open Day - 19 March 2019

The Nationals Member for Lowan Emma Kealy has issued an invitation to the people of Lowan to visit Parliament House on Sunday, 17 March 2019.

“The Victorian Parliament is celebrating Cultural Diversity Week with an open day filled with music, dancing and food from around the world,” Ms Kealy said.

“Entry is free and everyone is welcome”.

A self-guided tour will be available in a number of languages and community guides will be on hand to answer questions in each of those languages.

Visitors can sit in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council Chambers, and visit the magnificent Parliamentary Library.

There will also be cultural performances taking place on the iconic steps of Parliament House throughout the day, and a diverse line up of musicians will entertain in Queen’s Hall.

“The architecture of Parliament House, especially the Legislative Council Chamber is quite remarkable,” Ms Kealy said.

“Over the years there have been refurbishments to Parliament House, but the Council Chamber remains one of the best examples of the style of building of its time and is well worth a visit.

“This is a great opportunity for Victorians to see their Parliament and to gain an appreciation of the grandeur of the building and the diversity of cultures it represents”.
