Victorian Regional Achievement and Community Awards

Victorian Parliament - 18 October 2017 - Ms KEALY — I would like to congratulate the Mirranatwa‑Panyyabyr Landcare Group on receiving the prestigious Parks Victoria Environmental Sustainability Award at the Victorian Regional Achievement and Community Awards 2017. This well‑deserved award is in recognition of the outstanding success of their local community fox‑baiting project, which has been running since 2008 and covers 30 000 hectares of private land in the Victoria Valley. The increased lambing rates enjoyed by Victoria Valley farmers are as a result of the project, and it contributes a direct economic benefit. To achieve this while protecting biodiversity and nationally threatened wildlife is a wonderful achievement. I congratulate all involved in that Landcare group.
