$250 Rebate for concession card holders closes soon!

Nationals Member for Lowan Emma Kealy is encouraging eligible concession card holders across Lowan who have not yet applied for the Victorian Government’s $250 one-off rebate payment to get their application in.

Ms Kealy said she wanted to ensure those who were eligible for the rebate did not miss out.

“I’m concerned that the Andrews Labor Government has done a terrible job in advertising this payment, particularly to those who don’t access social media,” she said.

“The Victorian Government’s $250 one-off rebate payment has not been promoted to all eligible concession care holders and it is important that all those who are eligible are made aware and receive their power saving bonus.

“The program is open now and is available until 31 January 2022 and I encourage everyone who holds an eligible concession card to apply.”

The $250 Power Saving Bonus is a rebate for Victorian electricity account holders who have a Department of Veterans Affairs Gold Card or receive a Centrelink or Department of Veterans Affairs pension or JobSeeker, Youth Allowance, Austudy or Abstudy payment.

Applications can be made online by visiting www.compare.energy.vic.gov.au. Applicants will need an emailed copy of their bill from their provider, or the Nationals Metering Identifier (NMA) as stated on their electricity bill (a 10-or-11digit number).

Payments are made via an electronic funds transfer into the customers designated bank account, usually within two to three weeks of submission.

Ms Kealy said that anyone having trouble with their application or who do not have access to the internet can utilised the Brotherhood of St Laurence’s Energy Assistance Program by calling 1800 830 029.

Horsham and Hamilton Community Houses are also providing an outreach service to assist people with their applications. They can be contacted at 13 Robin Street, Horsham, by email via [email protected] or telephone (03) 53825352; or at 19 Sedgewick Street, Hamilton, via email at [email protected] or telephone (03) 55719780.

“It only takes about 5 minutes to apply, but if you have any difficulty, call my office on (03) 5382 0097 for assistance,” Ms Kealy said.
