Assisted Reproductive Treatment

Victorain Parliament - 4 June 2019 -

Ms KEALY (Lowan) (14:48:01): I seek a brief explanation from the minister on the bill. Mr FOLEY: A brief explanation of this bill is that it will remove the requirement for a married woman to seek the consent of her spouse to access assisted reproductive treatment using donor sperm if she is separated but not divorced from her spouse. It will replace redundant reference in the provisions regarding counselling requirements for the purposes of substituted parenting orders granted by a court for traditional surrogacy arrangements, and it will make minor amendments to the statute law revision amendments to the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 2008. Motion agreed to. Read first time. Ordered to be read a second time tomorrow.
