Brigades to receive new heavy tankers
Local CFA Brigades will benefit from the supply of a new heavy tankers being delivered as a result of design and planning works undertaken by the Nationals when in government.
The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP said six of the 40 tankers currently being built for use across the state, will be allocated to brigades across the Lowan electorate.
CFA brigades to receive a new heavy tanker will include:
- Cavendish
- North Balmoral
- Minimay
- Warracknabeal
- Nhill
- Strathdownie
“This is great news for western Victoria and a legacy of The Nationals significant $65.8 million investment in CFA infrastructure and resources while in government,” Ms Kealy said.
“I can’t speak highly enough of the remarkable and selfless job our CFA volunteers do in protecting their community from fire and I know that each new tanker will be a great asset to our local brigades,” she said.
The new vehicles are an Iveco Eurocargo Prototype Heavy Tanker Crew Cab Chassis (4x4) and are set to be passed into the hands of brigades this year.
“These tankers will provide a new level of service for the CFA, better protecting volunteers with improved safety measures,” Ms Kealy said.
“This will also mean that western Victoria will be better protected from the threat of fire throughout the year and particularly in the drier summer months.
“I am proud of the commitment we made to the CFA and its volunteers in government and I am pleased to see that the new vehicles are finally being delivered across the state,” she said.
