Constituency Questions - Mr Ric Walsh

Victorian Parliament - 22 August 2017 - Ms KEALY - My question is to the Minister for Public Transport. Mr Ric Walsh has contacted me, deeply concerned that he has no way of returning home to Warracknabeal from work in Melbourne following Labor’s cut to the only evening public transport service to the region from 27 August. Mr Walsh states:

I work in Melbourne during the week and return home to Warracknabeal after work on Friday nights. I catch the 6.26 p.m. train at Southern Cross to Ararat and board the Ouyen‑bound V/Line coach at 8.45 p.m. to Warracknabeal, arriving at 10.30 p.m.

Public Transport Victoria has decided to cease this service. If the service is to cease, I have no way of getting home to Warracknabeal.

Accordingly I ask: will the minister provide information on how people like Mr Walsh can travel from Melbourne to Warracknabeal in the evening following Labor’s cut to public transport services in our region?
