Daniel Andrews M.I.A for drought affected farmers
Daniel Andrews is failing farmers in drought affected areas of Victoria.
Some parts of Victoria continue to experience severe drought conditions but Daniel Andrews hasn’t visited any of the affected communities.
The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy said Daniel Andrews confirmed again in State Parliament this week why he’s made a name for himself as the Premier for Melbourne.
“The Nationals asked if the Premier would visit the Millewa region in north-west Victoria – which is enduring the worst conditions since the 1944-45 drought – but he refused,” Ms Kealy said.
“While we are extremely fortunate to be having a good season in most parts of western Victoria, farmers in drought stricken regions of the state are being totally ignored by Daniel Andrews, with no tangible financial support on offer.
“We all know how hard it is when you are in drought.
“You need someone to be there to support you, to give you hope, show they believe in the value of what you do, provide financial assistance that will help you get through the worst of it – show leadership.
“Farmers have been asking for rates relief since February, but Labor continues to ignore them.
“Drought takes an emotional and financial toll on our farmers, their families and the local community as a whole and it’s shameful that Daniel Andrews’ city-centric government are neglecting these communities.
“Labor has totally failed our farmers doing it the toughest through no fault of their own.
“Daniel Andrews needs to get out of Melbourne and see first-hand the enormous pressure our farmers and their families are under.”
