Fire season upon us but still no funding for Hamilton Airbase
The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP is once again calling on the Andrews Labor Government to confirm funding for Stage 2 of the Hamilton CFA-DELWP Air Base.
The project is currently approximately 50% complete and does not meet full DELWP operational standards or current work health and safety standards.
Funding of $650,000 is urgently required for the facility to become an efficient and modern strategically located fire-fighting asset for south west Victoria.
Ms Kealy has been actively calling on the Andrews Labor Government to fund the completion of the facility for two years.
“This is a vital fire suppression and protection project for south west Victoria and the Grampians National Park”, Ms Kealy said.
“I am once again calling on Daniel Andrews to immediately confirm that $650,000 in funding to allow completion of Stage 2 of this essential regional project.
“People have a right to feel safe in their homes.
“While it is too late for this fire season, theAndrews Labor Government needs to commit now to allow an upgrade of the Hamilton CFA-DELWP Air Base before the next fire season and give our communities the peace of mind that they are entitled too and deserve”, she said.
