Football and netball grants open

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP is encouraging local football and netball clubs as well as umpiring organisations to apply for grants of up to $100,000 to improve their facilities.

Applications for the current round of The Country Football and Netball Program are now open and will close on 7 December 2016.

“Funding assistance is available for facility improvements like change room upgrades, court refurbishments, ground resurface works or lighting installation,” Ms Kealy said.

“This year I have been proud to official open Minyip Recreation Reserve upgraded change rooms and resurfaced netball courts, and the fantastic new Coughlin Park Community Centre which was funded by the Nationals when in Government.

“Having high quality sporting facilities in country Victoria is central to encouraging more people to join local sporting clubs, to get active and join the great social network of our local sporting clubs.

“As well as encouraging participation in football and netball, The Country Football and Netball Program helps to stimulate local economies by creating jobs during construction,” she said.

“I strongly encourage our local football and netball clubs to consider projects eligible for this funding and to contact their local Council,” Ms Kealy said.

Clubs must register their interest in applying for funding by submitting an Expression of Interest to their local council. Expression of interest forms and further information is available at www.sport.vic.gov.au/grants-and-programs/country-football-netball-program.
