Grampians enrolments plummet by 13% under Labor

Government-subsidised training enrolments in the Grampians region have plummeted under the Andrews Labor Government.

The 2015 Victorian Training Market Report released yesterday shows enrolments have dropped by 13 per cent since 2014.

In 2015 there were 14,162 enrolments in the Grampians region compared to 16,297 the previous year – a drop of 2,135 enrolments in just one year.

Comments from Shadow Minister for Training, Skills and Apprenticeships Steph Ryan:

“Daniel Andrews and Steve Herbert promised to grow enrolments and ‘rescue’ TAFE, but under their watch funding for training at South West TAFE has been cut and enrolments have plummeted.

“After 18 months in office it’s time Steve Herbert takes responsibility and turns these figures around. If he’s not up to the task, Daniel Andrews should step in.”

Comments from Member for Lowan Emma Kealy:

“Daniel Andrews and Steve Herbert are failing to help our local young people get the skills they need to find a job.

“They have broken their promises to our region – and it’s our young people who are suffering.”
