Grants available to help young people care for the environment
The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy is encouraging eligible local organisations to apply for funding to help young people care for and protect the environment through a Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grant.
Grants of up to $5,000 are available to schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, Scouts, Guides and youth groups for projects that boost biodiversity through the development, improvement or restoration of habitat for Victoria’s native plants and animals.
Grants are also available for programs that engage or educate young people to value and care for Victoria’s natural environment.
“These grants give young people the opportunity to connect with nature and learn more about the environment through outdoor, hands-on activities,” Ms Kealy said.
“At the same time it provides health and social benefits for our youth by getting them outside and physically active.
“I encourage all eligible organisations to consider applying.”
