Kealy - $2 million moves Warracknabeal Education Precinct one step closer

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP says the Warracknabeal Education Precinct is one step closer today, following the announcement of $2 million for the Special Development School.

“The Warracknabeal Community have a clear plan to develop a new education precinct, bringing together the Special Development School, Primary School and Secondary School,” Ms Kealy said.

“I have been lobbying the State Government to match the Liberal-National Coalitions 2014 pre-election commitment of $8 million to see these plans are delivered and to improve education for the Warracknabeal area.

“It is disappointing the Labor Government have only provided a quarter of the funds required, however it is a small step towards making the Warracknabeal Education Precinct a reality.

“A new education precinct will help to attract new families to Warracknabeal to ensure the local school community continues to grow and prosper,” she said.

The first stage of the project was to relocate the specialist school onto the primary school site, as well as the construction of new staff and administration facilities.

“It is essential that the Special Development School have access to sufficient funds to deliver this important education service in our local area,” Ms Kealy said.

“I look forward to visiting Warracknabeal schools this week, along with the Shadow Minister for Education, Hon Nick Wakeling to celebrate this local funding win,” she said.
