Kealy attends Hamilton airport redevelopment opening
The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP has today joined the Southern Grampians Shire Council to celebrate the official opening of the Hamilton Airport redevelopment works.
“The former Nationals Member for Lowan, successfully lobbied for $4.5 million of funding to enable this vital project, which will support the future growth of Hamilton and the surrounding region,” Ms Kealy said.
The overall $5.2 million redevelopment project included upgrades to the terminal, strengthening and resealing of the apron and taxiways, a new LED apron and runway lighting system including floodlighting, new office buildings, expansion of the carpark and improved guidance information systems to assist pilots.
“The redeveloped Hamilton Airport is a great asset to the Hamilton district and will accommodate larger aircraft, which is vital to the on-going economic development of the region,” Ms Kealy said.
“It is also particularly significant for Western Victoria by connecting our regional towns with vital services and enabling quicker, more convenient travel for residents.
“I also urge the Melbourne Labor Government to fund stage 2 of the Hamilton CFA-DELWP Air Base project, to improve fire suppression and protection for South West Victoria and the Grampians National Park” she said.
