Kealy – better mobile coverage at last
The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP has congratulated eight rural communities in the Lowan electorate on their successful campaign to have new mobile towers built in their local areas.
Ms Kealy has been a strong advocate for the new towers that will boost 4G coverage, eliminate black spots and improve safety for local residents.
“Better mobile telephone coverage for regional communities is vital to ensure the safety of these communities and to support local investment, create local jobs and build stronger regional communities,” Ms Kealy said.
“This announcement is long overdue and locals have been frustrated by the Andrews Labor Government’s inaction in providing this critical infrastructure.”
Ms Kealy’s comments follow an announcement that new towers will be built at Bellfield, Grampians Road (Halls Gap to Dunkeld), Langkoop, Mooralla, Telopea Downs, Toolondo, Wilkur and Yanac.
The towers will be co-funded by the Federal and Victorian governments in partnership with Telstra and Optus through round four of the Mobile Black Spot Program.
“I look forward to seeing these communities enjoy the benefits that improved mobile telephone service will deliver for many years to come,” Ms Kealy said.
