Kealy calls on Labor to finish the Balmoral Community Complex

The Nationals Member for Lowan Emma Kealy is calling on the Andrews Labor Government to immediately provide $200,000 to complete the Balmoral Community Complex project.

The call follows the Federal Coalition Government’s announcement that it will provide nearly $500,000 to the Balmoral community to build a multi-purpose, multi-function complex at the Balmoral Recreation Reserve.

Ms Kealy had previously promised the funding required for a new community complex if The Nationals were elected to government in the lead up to the 2018 state election.

“The Federal Government’s funding commitment is wonderful news for the local Balmoral community who have done a fabulous job pulling the plans together and raising over $370,000 towards this much needed facility,” Ms Kealy said.

“The new facility will accommodate up to 200 people and will serve as a meeting place for the Balmoral community and our region for generations to come.

“Local sporting clubs are critical to the social fabric of our rural communities and are crying out for state government support to help with the upgrade of local facilities.

“Country clubs shouldn’t have to sell savs and buckets of chips on Saturdays to raise the money required to keep their clubs going.

“The Nationals committed to redirecting any funds available from Daniel Andrew’s dud Etihad Stadium deal to support our grassroots clubs which would have benefitted hundreds of thousands of Victorians.

“But country sport continues to miss out under the Premier for Melbourne and I am calling on Labor to provide the $200,000 required to fit out a new kitchen in the Balmoral Community Complex and bring this vital project to fruition.”
