Kealy condemns Labor over Warracknabeal Education Precinct

The Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy has wasted no time getting back to work for Lowan residents.

While Victorian politicians were still being sworn in during the first day of the 59th Parliament, Ms Kealy moved a notice of motion that the House condemn the Andrew Labor Government for their failure to complete the Warracknabeal Education Precinct project.

“Labor’s failure to complete the Warracknabeal Education Precinct by only building one third of the Warracknabeal Special Development School and approximately half the Secondary College is an absolute disgrace,” Ms Kealy said.

“Not only has Labor totally botched up the staging of the project, they refuse to commit the necessary funding to provide safe and supportive infrastructure for students and staff.

“Existing classrooms are riddled with cracks large enough to fit a fist through and possum urine leaks through the ceiling.

“With SDS students due to move into the half-built campus next year it is absolutely vital that completion of their facilities are prioritised.

“I promised the Warracknabeal community that I will move mountains if that’s what it takes to complete this vital project.

“Daniel Andrews should hang his head in shame.

“The Warracknabeal school community deserve so much better than Labor’s neglect and we must be able to give our local children access to the very best educational services and opportunities.

“I will not stop holding the Andrews Labor Government to account until the funding is provided to complete the Warracknabeal Education Precinct.
