Kealy congratulates 2021 VicHealth funding grant recipients
The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy has congratulated Wellways Hamilton, Western District Health Service and the Tatyoon Football Netball Club who have all been successful in receiving funding under the second round of the VicHealth Reimagining Health Grants program.
Ms Kealy said one of the key focuses of this round of funding was to provide funding support to clubs and residents hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
“This much-needed funding from VicHealth will ensure local organisations can continue supporting our community to build back better from the impact of coronavirus,” she said.
“Grassroots organisations are the heart and soul of our local communities and their efforts are key to helping us recover from this pandemic.”
Wellways Australia will use their $9,040 grant to establish ART GROUP as a venue for community members whose mental health has been impacted by COVID-19 to paint and connect with their community. The project allows for healthy self-expression to improve mental wellbeing and deeper connections between peers.
Western District Health Services will use their $3,000 to support Live4Life Crew, where members aged 14 to 16 years can connect on a regular basis to develop and maintain social connections. The funding will support travel to crew meetings, a celebration event, zoom membership and merchandise.
The Tatyoon Football Netball Club will use their $2,598 to enhance social connection and physical activity by recruiting a support co-ordinator to manage a walking group. Funding will also be used to subsidize meal costs in the local hall.
“Community organisations play a vital role, now more than ever, in helping people connect and take care of their wellbeing and it is critical that we continue to open up avenues for more people to get involved in sport,” Ms Kealy said.
“I congratulate and offer my full support to these organisations for their initiatives to achieve this.”
