Kealy encourages sporting clubs to apply for grants

Applications for the 2020-21 Sporting Club Grants Program are now open.

Grants are available to grassroots sporting clubs across Victoria to upgrade equipment, buy new uniforms and increase the skills of their coaches, officials and managers.

This year’s program provides funding of up to:

  • $1000 for new uniforms and equipment
  • $5000 for training for coaches, officials and volunteers
  • $5000 to improve operational effectiveness

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy is encouraging interested local sporting groups to consider applying for funding under the program.

“Programs like this are designed to ensure all Victorians can enjoy the benefits of participating in sport and active recreation,” Ms Kealy said.

“Our local sporting clubs and associations play such an important role in our community.

“Being involved in community sport is a great outlet for everyone, where you can make new friends while improving your own health and wellbeing at the same time.

“Even though most sports are currently suspended, it does provide a great opportunity for coaches, sporting club officials and managers to upskill.

Once restrictions are lifted it will be great to get back on the field, court or oval, made even better with a new uniform on your back and some new equipment.

“I look forward to supporting the projects put forward from across our region to make sure our local people have access to the sporting facilities and training support they are entitled to and deserve.”

Applications close on 29 September 2020.
