Kealy – Labor out of touch with regional Victoria
The Nationals Member for Lowan Emma Kealy MP says the Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan has again demonstrated how out of touch the Andrew’s Labor Government is with regional Victoria.
The Minister recently announced extra night coach services for regional Victoria but no services in Western Victoria beyond Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong.
“Labor’s announcement is particularly frustrating given recent changes to the V/Line timetable from Melbourne to Horsham which show no new services and actually increases travel times to the region”, Ms Kealy said.
“We need investment in public transport services in rural Victoria to ensure our country communities thrive.
“Improved services are vital to reversing our region’s population decline and to support decentralisation initiatives.
“The Nationals are proud to stand up for regional Victoria and I assure the people of the Lowan electorate that I will continue to fight for efficient and reliable public transport services for local residents,” she said.
