Kealy opens new facilities at Minyip Rec Reserve

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP officially opened major upgrade works at the Minyip Recreation Reserve over the weekend.

“Minyip recreation reserve users now have access to fantastic new male and female change rooms and the netball court has been totally resurfaced, the run-off area extended and is now under lights,” Ms Kealy said.

The Minyip Recreation Reserve Committee of Management was successful in receiving a grant of $100,000 from the 2014 Country Football and Netball Program, towards the total project cost of $164,000.

"In an outstanding effort, the Minyip Recreation Reserve Committee contributed over $64,000 toward the project, including $47,000 in direct financial input,” Ms Kealy said.

"It's so important for our rural communities to have access to good quality sporting facilities, not only to promote a fit and active lifestyle, but also to support the great social networks that sporting clubs provide in our country towns.

“I congratulate the Minyip Recreation Reserve Committee of Management and the people of the Minyip region for their passion to deliver this fantastic project, which will benefit the community for many years to come", she said.
