Kealy – show your support for Cancer Centre funding petition

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP is urging people to show their support to demand the Minister for Health makes good on her promise to local people to provide additional funding for the Wimmera Cancer Centre.

Ms Kealy launched a petition last month demanding the Minister for Health provides the additional $1.5 million required to make the Wimmera Cancer Centre a reality.

During a visit to the region in May, Minister Hennessey looked local cancer patients in the eye while they were receiving treatment and made the following promise - “If you don’t get there, we will, we’re going to build this. This project is not going to stop if the community fundraising falls short.”

“The Andrews Labor Government have refused to deliver their promise meaning the full Wimmera Cancer Centre may not be built”, Ms Kealy said.

“If Premier Daniel Andrews continues to renege on the Minister’s promise, some of the services originally proposed to be provided by the Wimmera Cancer Centre may not be included.

“There has been immense community support for the Wimmera Cancer Centre.

“I remind people to return completed petitions to my office or visit www.emmakealy.com.au to add their support to my online petition. Copies of the petition are also available at my Electorate office in Horsham or by phoning 5382 0097 or 5571 9800.

“This petition is sending a clear message to Labor that we will not accept another broken promise to local cancer, dialysis and palliative care patients,” she said.
