Kealy - Unemployment up by 50%

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP says the latest data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows a concerning trend in the number of unemployed people in North West Victoria.

Under Daniel Andrews, the total number of unemployed people in North West Victoria has risen from 2,343 in September 2016 to 3,561 in September 2017, an increase of more than 50%.

“This is an alarming trend and just more evidence that Daniel Andrews has no jobs plan for North West Victoria”, Ms Kealy said.

“We need a government that supports small business in regional Victoria, not one that neglects these important local employers.

“This is just another example of the city centric Andrews Labor Government’s disregard for rural and regional Victoria.

“The Andrews Labor Government should be doing all it can to support local people, small businesses and jobs growth.

“Only a Liberal and Nationals have a plan to do this through the work being undertaken by their Population Policy Taskforce,” she said.
