Kealy Welcomes Regional Parliament Announcement

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP has welcomed the announcement that communities in Regional Victoria will host Victorian Parliament under an elected Liberal Nationals Government.

The Andrews Labor Government abolished regional sittings of Parliament when elected in 2014.

Ms Kealy said regional sittings of Parliament gave country communities the opportunity to show case their region, participate in the parliamentary process and give city-based members of parliament the much-needed opportunity to learn more about regional communities.

“While Mildura, Warrnambool and Shepparton have been chosen for the first sittings, our major regional centres of Hamilton and Horsham would definitely be considered as future destinations,” Ms Kealy said.

“The Andrews Labor Government has shown nothing but contempt for our country communities.

“The Liberals and Nationals will make sure our regional communities are once again part of the parliamentary process,” she said.
