Lights on for Melville Oval

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP joined the Hamilton Kangaroos Football Netball Club and supporters to celebrate switching on the new lights for their first game fighting for premiership points.

“The new lights meet AFL standard at the semi-professional level and will enable the playing of night games and training, particularly in winter months,” Ms Kealy said.

“I congratulate the Hamilton Kangaroos FNC who really drove this great project. Their tireless planning and advocacy has paid off, now having first class lighting which will support players in Hamilton and the wider district for generations.

“The new lights will increase safety for footballers, netballers and cricketers, will encourage increase participation in sport and will help to confirm Melville Oval as a premier sporting facility in the Western district,” Ms Kealy said.

“This project was made possible through funding by the previous Nationals-Liberal Coalition State Government, the Nationals-Liberal Coalition Federal Government, the Southern Grampians Shire Council and generous contributions by ACE Radio and the Geoff and Helen Handbury Foundation,” she said.
