Lowan jobs disappear under Daniel Andrews - north

Background:

This month’s ABS regional jobs figures show the unemployment rate in regional Victoria is 5.1 per cent.

Since Labor took office regional Victoria has lost 2,728 full-time jobs. The Latrobe-Gippsland (‑6,383), Bendigo (-5,728), North West Victoria (-5,371), Hume (-4,487) and Shepparton (-2,256) regions have shed full-time jobs under Labor.

In Victoria’s South West SA region the unemployment rate has almost doubled in just one year jumping from 2.4% in November 2015 to 4.5% in November 2016, seeing a loss of 2,767 full time jobs for the region.

Comments attributable to Shadow Treasurer Michael O’Brien:

As we enter another year of Labor government it is clear that Daniel Andrews has no jobs plan for regional Victoria.

Looking after Melbourne at the expense of regional Victoria is simply unfair.

This city-centric government is doing nothing to invest in real job opportunities for regional Victoria.

Comments attributable to Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy:

Communities like Horsham, Nhill and Warracknabeal all need strong investment to keep these towns alive.

These figures show that Daniel Andrews and Labor have utterly failed to provide full time jobs for Victoria’s south west.
