The Allan Labor Government is once again punishing regional Victorians, this time by sacking Agriculture Victoria’s pest and weed team.
From December, Victoria will be the only state in Australia with no plan, no rules and no resources to deal with destructive pests like blackberries, rabbits and gorse.
These invasive pests will be able to spread unchecked through our roadsides, public reserves and farms — destroying crops, damaging the environment and threatening livelihoods.
Labor is making these cuts simply because it can’t manage money with debt rocketing toward $194 billion – with Victorians paying the price of $1.2 million each and every hour to pay the interest bill.
These cuts are a direct attack on regional communities, causing irreversible harm to our landscape, our farmers, families and regional Victorians’ way of life.
This decision is nothing short of environmental vandalism.
The Allan Labor Government must wake up, stop the cuts and start standing up for regional Victorians.
