Opportunity to celebrate our local sporting heroes

Nationals Member for Lowan Emma Kealy has encouraged the local community to nominate someone they know for the 2015 Community Sport and Recreation Awards.

Ms Kealy said people could nominate their local sporting volunteers, coaches, officials and clubs for the awards.

“The awards have a long-standing reputation for celebrating the achievements of our grassroots sporting and recreation community,” Ms Kealy said.

“These awards are a chance to nominate and celebrate the commitment and passion of people or organisations that make a real difference in their local community and embody the true spirit of sport and active recreation.

“I encourage as many people as possible to get their nominations in and support their local clubs and individuals,” she said.

The categories include:

  • Community Sporting Club of the Year
  • Outdoor Active Recreation Initiative
  • Young Volunteer of the Year
  • Service to Sport and Active Recreation Award
  • Community Coach of the Year
  • Community Umpire or Referee/Official of the Year
  • Community Sport and Recreation Facility Award
  • Community Sporting Event of the Year

The 2015 Community Sport and Recreation Awards will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Monday, 9 November 2015.

The winner in each category will receive $3,000, while two runners up in each category will be awarded $1,000 each.

In addition, a $5,000 Award will be presented for outstanding achievement. Nominees across all categories are eligible for this special award.
