Questions without Notice – Construction Industry

My question is to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. Five Gatto-linked M1 companies are still listed as accredited traffic management companies by the department of transport. Which roads and projects are these companies currently working on?

Paul HAMER (Box Hill – Minister for Roads and Road Safety) (14:23): I have made it very clear to my department that if there are any allegations of impropriety on any Big Build project they are to be referred to the appropriate authorities, including to the royal commission.

James Newbury: On a point of order, Speaker, on relevance, we have just put to the minister that Gatto is working on government sites.

The SPEAKER: There is no point of order.

Emma KEALY (Lowan) (14:23): Given integrity is sometimes optional under Labor, will the minister guarantee that none of these five Gatto-linked companies will receive another dollar of taxpayer money?

Paul HAMER (Box Hill – Minister for Roads and Road Safety) (14:23): I reject the premise of the question by the member of the opposition. As I said in my earlier answer, integrity is not optional in this government, and that is why all of these matters will be referred to the royal commission.
