Public Transport Minister’s latest western rail fail

The Minister for Public Transport is set to finally announce new bus routes for Horsham today but has completely ignored community demands for a passenger rail service to the region.

“The community has been calling for an expansion to bus services in Horsham, but Labor has refused to discuss the need for a passenger rail service that runs multiple times a day to connect the Wimmera to the rest of the state,” Ms Kealy said.

“The Andrews Government continues to play political games with our community by trying to shift the blame.

“Labor’s excuses don’t hide the fact they have no plan to support a regular passenger rail service to the Wimmera, and even worse, plan to cut funding for The Overland - the only passenger rail service to the region - in just two months time.

“The Andrews Labor Government have proven yet again they just don’t care about the needs of regional Victoria and have a complete lack of understanding of our public transport needs.

“I continue to call on Daniel Andrews and his Labor Ministers to make good on their commitment to ‘deliver for all Victorians’ by giving local residents the public transport connections we are entitled to and deserve,” she said.
