Recognising our fabulous volunteers

The Nationals Member for Lowan Emma Kealy is encouraging local people to think about nominating someone they know for the 2019 Victorian Volunteer Champions Awards.

“These awards give us the opportunity to recognise and thank those who selflessly give up their time in the service of others,” Ms Kealy said.

“It is hard to think of any sector in the community that isn’t touched by the vital contribution that our volunteers make.

“This includes providing support and care for the elderly, looking after our beautiful natural environment through Landcare groups, running our local junior and senior sporting clubs and, at the times when the community is at its most vulnerable, through our emergency service volunteers in the CFA and SES who are there to protect us.

“The role that our volunteers play in supporting our local communities is invaluable and I encourage everyone to consider nominating someone they know to recognise and thank them for their fabulous contribution.”

The awards will recognise up to 60 volunteers across the state in the categories of leadership, impact, service and teamwork.

The recipient of the Volunteer of the Year, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Award will receive a trophy and a $10,000 donation for a not-for-profit organisation of their choice.
