Spirit of the ANZAC - Applications closing soon
Nationals Member for Lowan Emma Kealy has encouraged local year nine and 10 students to apply for the 2015-16 Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize.
“Following the fantastic support of ANZAC Day commemorative services across the Lowan electorate it is timely to encourage local students to make the most of this meaningful opportunity,” Ms Kealy said.
“The Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize encourages young people to question what the ANZAC spirit means today in a diverse and multicultural Australia.
“Students can submit essays, artwork, musical compositions, and audio or video packages as part of their presentations,” she said.
The prize is open to all Victorian school students in year nine and 10.
“State finalists will have the opportunity to travel on an all-expenses paid overseas European study tour of Gallipoli and the Western Front to reflect upon the spirit of those brave Australians who gave their lives at war,” Ms Kealy said.
“Since its inception in 2004 this important prize has captured the imagination of students eager to learn more about Australia’s service history and has provided them with the opportunity to see first-hand where Australian men and women sacrificed so much for future generations,” she said.
In addition 16 regional finalists will participate in a study tour to Canberra where they will visit the Australian War Memorial.
Applications close on September 18. For more information or to apply online visit www.veterans.vic.gov.au
