Volunteer Emergency Service Grants Available 2019-20

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy is encouraging local emergency service organisations to apply for funding through the 2019-20 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP).

Ms Kealy said the program was open to the Country Fire Authority and Victorian State Emergency Services.

“Our emergency services volunteers do a wonderful job in protecting the community and these grants will help ensure that when they are performing their roles, they have the equipment and facilities they need to do the job,” Ms Kealy said.

“Last year grants totalling $274,491 were shared amongst seven Country Fire Authority Brigades and State Emergency Services in Lowan, with Balmoral and Harrow CFA brigades receiving $129,000 and $118,500 for new vehicles.

“Other CFA brigades whose applications were successful included Casterton, Hamilton, Nareen and Willaura.

“The Dartmoor Unit of the State Emergency Service was also successful.”

VESEP grants can be used to purchase essential operational equipment, vehicles and appliances and minor facility improvements.

The VESEP will provide $2 for every $1 of funding contributed by the local volunteer group up to a maximum of $150,000.00 excluding GST.
