Multiple grant opportunities available for sporting clubs

Sporting clubs across the Wimmera and south-west have just a couple of weeks remaining to apply for two grant streams to help boost participation and improve governance measures.

The latest round of the Victorian Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program is open, while the Australian Sports Foundation’s Active Kids Grant program is open until the end of next week.

The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy, said the two grants could help grassroots clubs and organisations address barriers to participation, develop safe and sustainable practices, and build social and active local communities.

The Sporting Club Grants Program provides funding of up to:

  • $1000 for new uniforms and equipment
  • $1500 for resources that improve governance and engagement
  • $5000 for projects to strengthen volunteering and officiating
  • $5000 to deliver a new sport or recreation program
  • $750 to support athlete travel

There is no maximum grant value for the Active Kids Grant this round, with applicants encouraged to only request the amount they need.

“Our local sporting clubs and associations play such an important role in our community, and programs like this are designed to ensure all Victorians can enjoy the benefits of participating in sport and active recreation,” Ms Kealy said.

“Being involved in community sport is a great outlet for everyone, where you can make new friends while improving your own health and wellbeing.

“I look forward to supporting these projects and others across the region to make sure our local people have access to the sporting facilities they are entitled to and deserve.”

Applications for the Sporting Club Grants Program close on April 7, while Active Kids Grant applications close on March 27.
