Closure of Allambi Elderly Peoples Home
Member for Lowan and Deputy Leader of The Nationals Emma Kealy has reached out to Allambi Elderly Peoples Home in Dimboola following news that the facility will close early next year.
Ms Kealy said she was advised of the proposed closure by a number of distressed families who contacted her office after receiving correspondence from centre management.
“While I am aware this is not a decision that has been taken lightly by Allambi’s committee of management, my constituents are understandably devastated at this news and the implications it has for both the residents of the home, their families and the broader Dimboola community,” Ms Kealy said.
“I understand the challenges that meeting the expected standards under the Australian Government’s Aged Care Act 1997 presents for aged care facilities, and am aware that my Nationals colleague Anne Webster, as the federal Member for Mallee, is pursuing this matter.
“I have written to the Allambi committee of management chair to offer any assistance or support that I am able to provide as a state Member of Parliament to hopefully enable this difficult decision to be reversed.
“I am committed to doing everything I can to ensure the residents of Allambi Elderly Peoples Home are able to remain in their home for the foreseeable future.”
