Kealy calls for Balmoral Community Complex project funding
The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP is calling on the Andrews Labor Government to provide funding to make a Balmoral Community Complex project a reality.
Earlier this week Emma Kealy MP and Shadow Minister for Sport, Tim McCurdy MP met with local representatives of the Balmoral & District Showground Recreation Reserve Committee to discuss the project proposal and see firsthand the vital need for improved facilities.
“I am grateful for the time the Shadow Minister has given to highlight this key community project,” Ms Kealy said.
“Current infrastructure at the Balmoral Recreation Reserve is white ant ridden and some areas are unsafe for public use,” she said.
A feasibility study undertaken in 2016 showed overwhelming support for a larger venue in Balmoral where functions, events and meetings can be held.
“A local fundraising committee has already raised $314,000 towards the project,” Ms Kealy said.
“I congratulate the Balmoral & District Showground Recreation Reserve Committee and the extended community on this outstanding fundraising effort which clearly demonstrates the strong community support for this project.
“Facilities of this nature are critical to the social fabric of rural communities and it’s vital the Andrews Labor Government steps up and invests to make the Balmoral Community Complex project a reality,” she said.
