Constituency questions - Warracknabeal Education precinct

Victorian Parlaiment - 29 May 2019 - Ms KEALY (Lowan) (11:33:14): (669) My constituency question is to the Minister for Education, and the information I seek is a detailed explanation of why the Warracknabeal education precinct was not funded in the 2019 budget. The Warracknabeal community have clearly articulated why finishing the Warracknabeal education precinct is an urgent requirement to support education in the region. Labor’s botched staging and underfunding of the project has resulted in secondary students missing out on lessons in the region’s newest science lab, instead being stuck in a school riddled with asbestos, with cracks in the walls that you can fit a fist into and possum urine leaking through the ceiling tiles. The special developmental school has had to cut education programs in the move to a partially built school, meaning students now miss out on their specialised education programs. Primary school buildings have had to be closed in the past year due to water leaking into light fittings. I have raised these issues with you on many occasions, the community have raised these issues with you and the Premier has been on site. Can you please explain to the community of Warracknabeal: why did you not fund the Warracknabeal education precinct in the budget?
