Roads hit hard during floods
The Nationals Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy MP says the Labor Government must step up and provide urgent roads funding following the devastating impact heavy rains and floods are having on local roads.
“Our roads are more dangerous than they have ever been before and the Andrews Labor Government can no longer force our local people to face these dangerous conditions,” Ms Kealy said.
“Heavy rainfalls and flood events have caused significant road surface damage and further deterioration. Pot holes have formed right across the region, which are only getting worse with every vehicle and truck passing over them.
“The full impact on our local roads is still unknown but what has been seen already is devastating.
“I urge local people to report all road hazards to VicRoads which can be done through my website www.emmakealy.com or by phoning 13 11 70. This will help give VicRoads the data they need to demonstrate that more funding is needed to respond to road hazard reports.
“The Labor Government must not only reverse their drastic cuts to the country roads budget but they must release urgent funding to repair our roads and bridges following the impact of heavy rains.
“I assure the Lowan electorate that I will continue to lobby this city centric Labor Government so we receive our fair share of roads funding to stop local lives being put at risk.
“I remind everyone to remain vigilant, slow down and take extra care when travelling on our county roads,” she said.
